BMS Protocol Serial LCD Modules for Energy Storage and EV Charging
Battery and charging equipment has a display problem that is really a firmware problem: the BMS already knows the state of charge, and nobody wants to write a graphics stack to show it. Our smart serial modules take UART commands and render the screen themselves - including parts built for BMS protocols - so the host sends values, not pixels. Outdoor chargers additionally need brightness and a cold-start range, both listed per model below.
Model, size and rating figures on this page are read directly from the specifications of our published models - the same numbers appear on each product page. Of the 188 models in our current production list, 9 are tagged internally for this application; the 37 below are the ones with a full English specification published so far.
What this application actually demands
| Requirement | Why it decides the design | What we build |
|---|---|---|
| Host effort | A BMS MCU should not be running a graphics library. | Smart UART modules with on-board controller; the host sends commands, the module draws |
| Protocol | BMS screens are the differentiator - the protocol is already spoken. | UART serial modules including parts built for BMS use; command set supplied with the module |
| Outdoor brightness | A charging post is read in direct sun. | Up to 500 cd/m² on published parts; higher builds quoted per project |
| Cold start | Outdoor chargers must start, not just run, when cold. | -20 °C standard, -40 °C on wide-temperature parts |
| Screen sizes | Cabinet displays and post displays are different products. | 2.8" and 4.3" for battery packs and cabinets, 7" and 10.1" for charging posts |
Models that fit
Selection rule: all smart serial (UART) modules including BMS protocol screens, plus any panel rated 400 cd/m² or brighter, plus 4" and larger panels operating from -20 °C or colder. Nothing else is filtered - if a published model meets that rule it is in this table, and you can check it against the specification on the product page. Values are typical at 25 °C.

Not seeing the combination you need? 188 models are in production and roughly 120 new ones are developed each year, so ask before assuming it does not exist.
Three things that go wrong
Written from the enquiries we have to correct most often.
Writing a display stack you did not need
The most common avoidable cost here is firmware. A smart serial module with an on-board controller turns the display into a handful of UART commands, which is weeks of engineering that never has to happen. It costs more per unit than a dumb panel and is usually still cheaper overall below a few thousand units.
Specifying brightness for the enclosure, not the sun
An indoor cabinet is happy at 250 cd/m². A charging post facing south is not. Above roughly 400 cd/m² the backlight adds heat inside a sealed enclosure that is already warm, so brightness, enclosure venting and panel lifetime have to be decided together.
Confusing operating range with cold start
A panel rated to -20 °C will run at -20 °C once warm, but a charger that has been off overnight has to start there. Where the equipment is unheated and outdoors, specify the wide-temperature part and, if the UI must be readable immediately, a heater film - we will tell you which of the two your case actually needs.
What we can change - and what we cannot
Changed on a catalogue panel
FPC length, pin order and exit direction; connector type; backlight brightness and colour; touch panel and cover glass; driver IC selection within what the glass supports; PCBA and firmware on smart serial modules. These start at 100 pcs and do not need new glass tooling.
Needs new tooling
A new glass size or shape, a custom segment layout, a new touch sensor pattern. Tooling MOQ is 1,000 pcs and we quote the tooling cost separately so you can see what is one-off and what is per-piece.
What we will not claim
We do not quote a panel we cannot build to your temperature, brightness and lifetime figures at the same time. If one of the three has to give, we say which one before you order samples rather than after.
Commercial terms
Sample 5 pcs in 10-15 days; production 100 pcs in 10-20 days. EXW, FOB Shenzhen, CIF. T/T, L/C, PayPal. Packed as anti-static bag + foam tray + export carton.

22 modelsEnergy Storage, BMS & EV Charging displays - questions
Do you have display modules that speak BMS protocols?
Yes - that is what our smart serial line is built around. The module carries its own controller and takes UART commands, so the BMS sends values and the screen renders them. Send us the protocol document or the command list you need to support and we will confirm compatibility before you order samples.
What is a smart serial LCD module?
A display with an on-board controller and a command set over UART. Instead of driving pixels, the host sends instructions like 'show this value in this field'. It removes the graphics work from your firmware and lets a small MCU drive a colour screen it could not otherwise handle.
How bright does an outdoor EV charger display need to be?
Direct sun needs 500 cd/m² or a transflective build to stay readable; shaded or canopy-mounted posts are usually fine at 350 to 450 cd/m². Higher brightness means more backlight heat inside a sealed enclosure, so it is a thermal decision as much as an optical one.
Do you have wide-temperature panels for outdoor equipment?
Yes, -40 °C to +70 °C operating with storage to +85 °C on wide-temperature parts, against -20 °C to +70 °C as standard. The rating of each published model is in the table on this page.
What are the MOQ and lead time?
Samples 5 pcs in 10-15 days; production 100 pcs for catalogue models and 1,000 pcs where new tooling is needed, 10-20 days.
Need a quote or a datasheet?
Send us size, resolution, interface and annual quantity. Our engineers reply within one working day. Sample MOQ 5 pcs, lead time 10-20 days.
