SPI LCD Display Modules
Four to five wires (clock, data, chip select, command/data, optional reset); the panel's own driver IC holds the frame buffer and the host only sends what has changed. It is the lowest pin count of any interface that still drives a colour TFT, which is why it dominates pin-starved and battery-powered designs.

Best fit
Best for MCUs with no LCD controller and a limited pin budget, at resolutions our own choose-a-module guide puts at roughly 320×240 and below before frame rate becomes the limiting factor - use the SPI frame rate calculator on our interface guide to check your own resolution and clock before committing.

When SPI is not the right choice
Not the right choice for full-screen video or fast animation at larger resolutions - the bus becomes the bottleneck well before the panel does. Above roughly QVGA, an MCU-parallel or RGB interface will move data faster for the same clock effort.
SPI - questions
How many published SPI models do you have right now?
19 on the site today, but SPI is a standard option across our small-panel TFT and COG lines - we develop roughly 120 new models a year, so ask for your exact size and resolution before assuming it is not available.
What frame rate can I actually get over SPI?
It depends on resolution, colour depth and SPI clock - use the calculator embedded in our SPI frame rate guide to work it out for your numbers rather than assuming a figure. As a rule, partial redraw (updating only what changed) gets you much further than a full-frame refresh at any clock speed.
Does SPI need a display controller on my MCU?
No - the panel's own driver IC holds the frame buffer, which is exactly why SPI works on MCUs that have no display hardware at all.
Need a quote or a datasheet?
Send us size, resolution, interface and annual quantity. Our engineers reply within one working day. Sample MOQ 5 pcs, lead time 10-20 days.
