MIPI DSI LCD Display Modules
A high-speed differential serial interface - far fewer physical pins than RGB at a given resolution, at the cost of needing a MIPI DSI-capable host block. It is the interface most modern application-processor SoCs use for their own display output.

Best fit
Best for higher resolution panels on a modern SoC that already has a MIPI DSI block - it moves more pixels per pin than RGB, which matters once resolution and refresh rate both go up.

When MIPI DSI is not the right choice
Not an option for MCU-class processors - virtually no low-end microcontroller has a MIPI DSI transmitter, so this interface only makes sense once you are already committed to an applications processor. For an MCU project, RGB, MCU-parallel, SPI or smart serial are the realistic choices.
MIPI DSI - questions
How many published MIPI models do you have right now?
7 on the site today, at 5" and larger where MIPI's pin-count advantage over RGB starts to matter most - tell us your target size and resolution and we will confirm what is achievable outside the published list.
Do I need a bridge IC for MIPI?
Only if your host does not have a native MIPI DSI transmitter. If it does, MIPI connects directly; if it does not, RGB with the host's parallel controller is usually the simpler path rather than adding a DSI bridge.
Is MIPI worth it over RGB for my project?
Mainly when pin count or cable flexing is the constraint - MIPI uses far fewer physical conductors than RGB at the same resolution. If pins are not tight and your SoC drives RGB natively, RGB is the simpler and often cheaper integration.
