How to Verify a Shenzhen LCD Display Factory Before You Order

Every supplier's website says the same things - factory direct, quality guaranteed, years of experience. None of that is verifiable by reading it. What is verifiable is a short list of public records, and checking them takes less time than a single email round-trip.

Start with the business registration, not the website

Every legally registered company in China has a unified social credit code, searchable on the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System, that shows registration date, registered capital, legal representative and registered address - independent of anything the company's own website claims. Our own code is 91440300777163896P, registered 2005-07-05; you can look up any supplier's equivalent number the same way before you send a deposit anywhere.

Certificates: ask for the number, not the badge

An ISO 9001 badge on a website proves nothing by itself - certification bodies maintain public registers, and a real certificate has a number you can check against them. Ask for the certificate number, the issuing body, and the scope of registration, then verify it on the certification body's own public register rather than trusting a logo. Our own ISO 9001 registration (U24Q2GZ8029389R0S, issued by GICG (Guardian Independent Certification Ltd)) is published with its verification route on our certifications page for exactly this reason - if a supplier will not give you a number, that itself is the answer.

Factory versus trading company: what actually tells you which

The distinction matters because a trading company adds a margin and a communication layer between you and the people who can actually change tooling, timing or process - and the website rarely says which one you are talking to. Signals that hold up: does the quoted factory address match the business registration; can the sales contact answer a specific process or tooling question without going quiet and checking; do the factory photos on the site match what comes up on a video call, not just what was posted. A real manufacturer will not hesitate at any of the three.

Red flags in a first quotation

• A lead time far shorter than the process should allow for genuine custom tooling - tooling has a physical minimum cycle time that does not compress just because a buyer is in a hurry.
• No MOQ at all on a fully custom part - some minimum reflects the real cost of setting up a production run; "any quantity" on custom tooling is a sign the quote has not been thought through, or worse.
• A price dramatically below other quotes for identical specifications - ask what is different before assuming it is simply a better deal.
• Reluctance to provide company registration details - a real, willing-to-be-checked supplier gives this without being asked twice.
